Non-RPG Nerd Culture Discussion / Re: Solo - a Star Wars story teaser trailer

I agree with you. I thought there were better options for a young Solo but maybe they saw something we didn’t. Han Solo is an “untouchable” in SW fandom and his role will be hugely criticized regardless of how well the film does in general.

GMJ Episode Discussion / GMJ 208: Hinterlands of Elandria 04: Dianara's Rest
« Last post by Lex on February 21, 2018, 10:49:22 pm »
Hinterlands of Elandria is a new D&D campaign set in Lex's homebrew campaign world, Primordia. Five years after the beginning of the Breaking of the World, the Time of Rifts and the Retreat of Humanity, a new team of adventurers leave the safety of the city of Elandria to explore rumors of a lone village somehow surviving in the Hinterlands to the east. Very few cities survived the Breaking, and it's believe no smaller settlements did. If there is a village out there, how has it survived on its own? The answer to this question could decide the fate of the thousands of refugees packing the streets of Elandria.

I will give it the benefit of the doubt but I thought the guy they cast as Solo was lacking big time. It will be really hard for me to get over that fact alone  :(

I'm not planning to discuss Tomb of Annihilation any further on the show. I talked about it a bit in episode 169. However, I'm not running the adventure, and I'm not planning to run it, so I'm not the best person to do a full review of it.

It does have some features I like, like the random encounter table, which I mention in episode 207, which I'm pretty impressed with because it has quite a bit more than just combat encounters. I also like the table of caches and treasures. It has a nice version of exploration rules, as well, that are a slightly different approach from those in the DMG and recent Unearthed Arcana article.

GMJ Episode Discussion / Problems Downloading Episodes

I'm aware that some of you are having problems downloading the past few episodes. I heard back from SquareSpace, my website provider, and there is a problem with audio files on the site. They said they'll look into it, but gave no promises as to when it will be fixed.

In the meantime, downloading directly on the site works, or you can try another app. I personally use Beyond Pod, and I'm able to download the episode.

I wish I had better news, but I have no control over this, unfortunately. I just hope they fix it soon.

Any plans to do an in-depth discussion on the TOA adventure Lex? Currently reading it myself and really liking a lot of what they put into this book.

Worldbuilding Discussion / Great Worlds

Absolutely love the worlds that you all have been adding so far. Really makes me jealous of your creativity. My homebrew world right now is nothing more than a starting town. My players will be from this city and never have traveled outside the area won't know much of the larger world. So I can pretty much make crap up as we discover them. Makes it a lot easier for me to just get the bare bones of what I need to start an adventure.

I most likely won't even have a fully developed pantheon at the start of the game. Just a few gods that are worshipped in their area.
