Solo - a Star Wars story teaser trailer
« on: February 05, 2018, 07:14:10 am »
Thoughts anyone?
I have low expectations on this one after Rogue One which I think will be difficult to top.  Some of the images in the trailer looked good and the brand, spankin new Falcon was cool, but I'm only cautiously optimistic at this point.  :D

I haven't seen it yet. I'll have to check it out on YouTube today. I'm glad to hear someone liked Rogue One! I think there's a good chance it will end up being the only Star Wars movie I only see once. ;) I don't think it was bad, per se, but I didn't terribly enjoy it either and wouldn't want to sit through it again. I have high hopes for Solo, though. There's really no excuse for this movie not to be awesome.

Don't get me wrong, I had some serious issues with Rogue One  not the least of which was trying to shoehorn in too much to connect with Episode IV.  CGI Leia was a bit too much.  I think they could have ended that part with her saying what she said with her back turned to the screen - everyone would have gotten the point and most would be less creeped out. :)
There were also a few other things like AT-ATs on mushy sand as the Empire's main defense of a comm outpost (but the images were stunning), but for the most part I enjoyed it.

While RO had a couple issues, I absolutely loved it. In fact I saw it 6 times in the theater. It's probably my second favorite  Sw Movie out of all of them, and yes I enjoyed the prequels.

Solo looks great so far. I just hope they don't go to far away from the (legends) origin story. I expect some new twists but let's not go crazy.

Loved see Lando in that teaser.

Okay, saw the trailer finally, and I gotta say I'm a bit underwhelmed. Honestly, if it wasn't Star Wars, and if it didn't have space ships, I don't know that I'd even be interested in this movie right now. But it was the first teaser, so there's still hope! I didn't think Wonder Woman looked at all promising until the third trailer, and I really enjoyed that movie.

I really don't think there's any excuse for a movie about the early days of Han Solo to be anything but awesome. I really hope we get the scene where he wins the Falcon from Lando in a Sabbac game. :D

There’s a second trailer now and it’s better. Gives a little more of Solo’s background.
Looks like he and Lando will be part of the Falcon’s crew together. Not what I was expecting.  Like I said, I’m only cautiously optimistic.  ::)

Oh cool, I'll have to check out the second trailer. The first one didn't give us much to go on.

Well, I know I drank the SW Kool-Aid ages ago, but I loved the trailer for Solo, and not surprisingly enjoyed the heck out of Rogue One.

Yeah, the second trailer did it for me.  A bit more detail and little more insight into where they're going plot-wise.  I get excited for any new Star Wars stuff because there are very creative people making some really cool stuff these days.  I just hope they will use the connective tissue from the original trilogy and not make the characters more than what they are.
I love that Han will be kicked out of the Imperial navy for having an open mind. I love that Lando will be in the story, but if the "that was a long time ago, I'm sure he's forgotten about that" line from Empire is explained cheaply then I might have to say a few words.  ;D

I will give it the benefit of the doubt but I thought the guy they cast as Solo was lacking big time. It will be really hard for me to get over that fact alone  :(

I agree with you. I thought there were better options for a young Solo but maybe they saw something we didn’t. Han Solo is an “untouchable” in SW fandom and his role will be hugely criticized regardless of how well the film does in general.

Slightly off-topic, but those last two episodes of Rebels was a gut-punch! I'm really impressed with what they're doing with the show. I'll avoid spoilers, though, as I'm sure not everyone has seen the latest episodes yet.

Haven't seen them yet.  Still a ways behind but I'm looking forward to the grittiness to come. :)

Personally, I loved the "Sabotage" remix of the Solo trailer... way more than the original:

The remix trailer has all the goodness of a Star Wars movie, without the somewhat goofy dialog trying to sum up a movie about a young Han Solo... which 90% of the viewers already know what he is like.
